5Adonijah the son of Haggith exalted himself, saying, “I will reign.” So he made for himself a chariot, horsemen, and fifty men running before him.

6His father had never displeased him at any time by saying, “Why have you done thus?” He was also very handsome, and his mother had borne him after Absalom.
