35And when day came, the magistrates sent the rod-bearers, saying, “Release those men.”

36And the jailer reported these words to Paul: “The magistrates have sent word that you may be released. So now, come out and go in peace.”

37But Paul said to them, “After beating us publicly without trial, though we are Roman citizens, they threw us into prison; and now are they sending us out secretly? No indeed! Rather, let them come themselves and lead us out.”
