Story guide: Darkness and the Nile image belong to a prophetic warning, not a claim of a dated eclipse or flood.
Open this scene in the reader →7Yahweh has sworn by the pride of Jacob: Surely I will never forget any of their deeds.
8Because of this, will not the land tremble, and every one who dwells in it mourn? All of it will rise like the Nile; it will be driven along and sink like the Nile of Egypt.
9And it shall happen in that day, declares the Lord GOD, that I will make the sun go down at noon, and I will darken the earth in broad daylight.
10I will turn your feasts into mourning, and all your songs into lamentation; I will bring sackcloth on every waist and baldness on every head; I will make it like mourning for an only son, and its end like a bitter day.
