Then Yahweh said to Moses, “Cut for yourself two stone tablets like the first ones, and I will write on the tablets the words that were on the first tablets, which you broke.”

And be ready by the morning, and in the morning come up to Mount Sinai and present yourself there to me on the top of the mountain.

And no man shall go up with you, and indeed no man shall be seen anywhere on the mountain; even the flock and the herd must not graze in front of that mountain.

So he cut two stone tablets like the first ones, and Moses rose early in the morning and went up Mount Sinai, just as Yahweh had commanded him, and he took the two stone tablets in his hand.

And Yahweh came down in the cloud and stood there with him, and proclaimed the name of Yahweh.

Then Yahweh passed before him and proclaimed, “Yahweh, Yahweh, a God compassionate and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness.”

keeping steadfast love for thousands, forgiving iniquity and transgression and sin, but he will by no means leave unpunished, visiting the iniquity of fathers on children and on children's children, to the third and to the fourth generation.

Moses quickly bowed down to the ground and worshiped.

And he said, “If now I have found favor in your eyes, Lord, please let the Lord go in our midst, though it is a stiff-necked people; and forgive our iniquity and our sin, and take us as your inheritance.”
