Open this scene in the reader →1After these things, it was said to Yoseph, “Look, your father is sick.” So he took his two sons with him, Manasseh and Ephraim.
And it was told to Jacob, and it was said, “Look, your son Joseph has come to you.” And Israel strengthened himself and sat up on the bed.
And Jacob said to Joseph, “God Almighty appeared to me at Luz in the land of Canaan and blessed me,”
And he said to me, ‘Look, I will make you fruitful and multiply you, and I will make you into an assembly of peoples, and I will give this land to your offspring after you as an everlasting possession.’
And now, your two sons, who were born to you in the land of Egypt before I came to you in Egypt, are mine; Ephraim and Manasseh shall be mine, like Reuben and Simeon.
But your offspring whom you father after them will be yours; they will be called by the name of their brothers in their inheritance.
As for me, when I came from Paddan, Rachel died to my sorrow in the land of Canaan on the way, while there was still some distance to go to Ephrath; and I buried her there on the way to Ephrath (that is, Bethlehem).
