And it happened, when man began to multiply on the face of the ground, and daughters were born to them,

the sons of God saw that the daughters of man were beautiful, and they took wives for themselves from any they chose.

Then Yahweh said, “My Spirit will not remain in man forever, for he is flesh; his days will be one hundred and twenty years.”

The Nephilim were on the earth in those days—and also afterward—when the sons of God came in to the daughters of man, and they bore children to them. Those were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown.

And Yahweh saw that the wickedness of man was great on the earth, and that every inclination of the thoughts of his heart was only evil all the day.

And Yahweh was grieved that he had made man on the earth, and he was pained in his heart.

So Yahweh said, “I will blot out man, whom I have created, from the face of the ground—from man to livestock to creeping things and to the birds of the heavens—for I am grieved that I have made them.”

But Noah found favor in the eyes of Yahweh.
