The Temple Gate Warning · Jeremiah 7
Open this scene in the reader →21Thus says Yahweh of hosts, the God of Israel: Add your burnt offerings to your sacrifices, and eat the flesh.
22For I did not speak to your fathers or command them on the day I brought them out of the land of Egypt concerning burnt offering and sacrifice.
23But this command I gave them: ‘Listen to my voice, and I will be your God, and you shall be my people; and walk in all the way that I command you, so that it may go well with you.’
24But they did not listen, and they did not incline their ear, but walked in their own counsels, in the stubbornness of their evil heart, and they went backward and not forward.
25From the day your fathers came out of the land of Egypt until this day, I have sent to you all my servants the prophets, day after day, rising early and sending them.
26Yet they did not listen to me, and they did not incline their ear, but they stiffened their neck; they acted more wickedly than their fathers.
27You shall speak all these words to them, but they will not listen to you; you shall call to them, but they will not answer you.
28Then you shall say to them, ‘This is the nation that did not listen to the voice of Yahweh its God and did not accept correction. Faithfulness has perished; it has been cut off from their mouth.’
