1These are the words of the letter that Jeremiah the prophet sent from Jerusalem to the remaining elders of the exiles, and to the priests, the prophets, and all the people whom Nebuchadnezzar had carried away from Jerusalem to Babylon.

2after King Jeconiah, the queen mother, the court officials, the officials of Judah and Jerusalem, and the craftsmen and the metalworkers had gone out from Jerusalem—
