If I say, “I will forget my complaint; I will put aside my sad face and be cheerful,”

I am afraid of all my pains; I know that you will not acquit me.

I will be condemned; why then should I labor in vain?

If I washed myself with snow and cleansed my hands with lye,

then you would plunge me into the pit, and my clothes would abhor me.
