Open this scene in the reader →27And at this point his disciples came, and they were amazed that he was speaking with a woman. Yet no one said, “What are you seeking?” or, “Why are you speaking with her?”
So the woman left her water jar and went into the town and says to the people,
Come, see a man who told me everything I have done. Could this be the Messiah?
They went out of the city and were coming to him.
Meanwhile, the disciples were urging him, saying, “Rabbi, eat.”
But he said to them, “I have food to eat that you do not know.”
So the disciples were saying to one another, “Has anyone brought him something to eat?”
Jesus said to them, “My food is to do the will of him who sent me and to complete his work.”
Do you not say, ‘There are still four months, and then the harvest comes’? Look, I tell you: lift up your eyes and see the fields, that they are white for harvest already.
The one who reaps is receiving wages and gathering fruit for eternal life, so that the one who sows and the one who reaps may rejoice together.
For in this the saying is true: one is the one sowing, and another the one reaping.
I sent you to reap what you have not labored for; others have labored, and you have entered into their labor.
