So Joshua took all this land: the hill country, all the Negev, all the land of Goshen, the lowland, the Arabah, the hill country of Israel, and its lowland.

from Mount Halak, which rises toward Seir, as far as Baal-gad in the Valley of Lebanon below Mount Hermon. And he captured all their kings and struck them down and put them to death.

Joshua made war against all these kings for many days.

There was not a city that made peace with the sons of Israel, except the Hivites living in Gibeon; they took all of them in battle.

For it was from Yahweh to harden their hearts to meet Israel in battle, so that he might devote them to destruction, so that there would be no mercy for them, but so that he might destroy them, just as Yahweh had commanded Moses.
