Carried outside the camp

Strange Fire and Priestly Grief · Leviticus 10

Story guide: Mishael and Elzaphan, two adult Levite relatives in plain linen, respectfully carry the two deceased priests away from the sanctuary on separate simple cloth-supported litters, their intact tunics fully covering the bodies. Moses directs the route toward the camp boundary. Exactly two carriers and two covered forms are legible; no exposed faces, burned flesh, blood, gore, flames, or funeral spectacle.

4Then Moses called Mishael and Elzaphan, the sons of Uzziel, Aaron’s uncle, and said to them, “Come near; carry your brothers away from before the sanctuary to outside the camp.”

5So they came near and carried them in their tunics to outside the camp, just as Moses had said.
