Before elders and a priest, a worshipper solemnly devotes property, livestock, and a represented adult household member under the irrevocable category, while the objects are set behind a sanctuary boundary and cannot be sold or redeemed. The grave rule concerning a condemned devoted person is acknowledged by an empty guarded place only. No human sacrifice, execution, auction, chains, coercion, blood, or visible deity.

28However, every devoted thing that a man devotes to Yahweh from all that belongs to him—whether human or animal, or from the field of his inherited property—shall not be sold or redeemed. Every devoted thing is most holy to Yahweh.

29No devoted thing that is devoted from man may be redeemed; it must surely be put to death.
