And he cried out and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus so that he may dip the tip of his finger in water and cool my tongue, because I am in agony in this flame.’

But Abraham said, ‘Child, remember that you received your good things during your life, and Lazarus likewise bad things; but now he is comforted here, and you are in anguish.’

And besides all these things, between us and you a great chasm has been fixed, so that those wanting to cross over from here to you cannot, nor can they cross over from there to us.

Then he said, ‘I ask you then, father, that you send him to my father’s house,’

for I have five brothers, so that he may solemnly warn them, lest they too come to this place of torment.

But Abraham said, ‘They have Moses and the Prophets; let them listen to them.’

But he said, ‘No, father Abraham, but if someone goes to them from among the dead, they will reorient toward God.’

But he said to him, ‘If they do not listen to Moses and the Prophets, neither will they be persuaded if someone rises from the dead.’
