Then taking the twelve aside, he said to them, “Look, we are going up to Jerusalem, and everything written through the prophets about the Son of Man will be fulfilled.”

For he will be handed over to the Gentiles and will be mocked and insulted and spit on,

And after flogging him, they will kill him, and on the third day he will rise.

And they understood none of these things, and this saying was hidden from them, and they did not understand the things being said.

As he was approaching Jericho, a certain blind man was sitting beside the road, begging.

And hearing a crowd passing by, he was asking what this meant.

And they told him, “Jesus the Nazarene is passing by.”

And he cried out, saying, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!”

And those going ahead were rebuking him so that he would be silent; but he kept crying out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!”

So Jesus stood still and ordered that he be brought to him. And when he came near, he asked him,

“What do you want me to do for you?” And he said, “Lord, that I may see again.”

And Jesus said to him, “Receive your sight; your faith has saved you.”

And immediately he received his sight, and he followed him, glorifying God. And all the people, when they saw it, gave praise to God.
