And it happened on the next day that he went into a town called Nain, and his disciples and a large crowd were going with him.

As he came near to the gate of the city, behold, a dead man was being carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow, and a considerable crowd from the city was with her.

And when the Lord saw her, he was moved with compassion for her and said to her, “Do not weep.”

And coming up, he touched the bier, and the men carrying it stood still, and he said, “Young man, I say to you, arise.”

And the dead man sat up and began to speak, and he gave him to his mother.

And fear seized them all, and they were glorifying God, saying, “A great prophet has arisen among us, and God has visited his people.”

And this report about him went out through all Judea and all the surrounding region.
