Open this scene in the reader →5And whenever you pray, you shall not be like the hypocrites, because they love to stand and pray in the synagogues and on the corners of the broad streets, so that they may be seen by people. Truly I say to you, they have received their reward.
But you, when you pray, go into your inner room, and after shutting your door, pray to your Father who is in secret; and your Father, who sees in secret, will reward you.
And when you pray, do not heap up empty words like the Gentiles, for they think that they will be heard because of their many words.
Therefore, do not become like them, for your Father knows what you need before you ask him.
Therefore, pray like this: Our Father in the heavens, may your name be treated as holy,
May your kingdom come; may your will be done, as in heaven, so also on earth.
Give us today our daily bread.
And forgive us our debts, as we also have forgiven our debtors.
And do not lead us into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
