And these were the numbered ones of Levi by their clans: of Gershon, the clan of the Gershonites; of Kohath, the clan of the Kohathites; of Merari, the clan of the Merarites.

These were the clans of Levi: the clan of the Libnite, the clan of the Hebronite, the clan of the Mahlite, the clan of the Mushite, the clan of the Korahite. And Kohath fathered Amram.

The name of Amram’s wife was Jochebed, the daughter of Levi, who was born to Levi in Egypt. She bore to Amram Aaron and Moses, and Miriam their sister.

To Aaron were born Nadab and Abihu, Eleazar and Ithamar.

But Nadab and Abihu died when they offered strange fire before Yahweh.

And those counted from among them were twenty-three thousand, every male from a month old and upward, because they were not counted among the sons of Israel, because no inheritance was given to them among the sons of Israel.
