Romans 10:5-8
The Word Is Near
Zeal, the Near Word, and Good News for All · Romans 10
Story guide: Disclosed visual essay. Moses describes the righteousness from the law in terms of doing. The righteousness from faith does not demand bringing Messiah down from heaven or up from the dead: the proclaimed word is already near, in the mouth and heart.
Open this scene in the reader →5For Moses writes about the righteousness that is from the law: the man who does these things will live by them.
6But the righteousness from faith speaks in this way: “Do not say in your heart, ‘Who will ascend into heaven?’” (that is, to bring Messiah down).
7or, “Who will descend into the abyss?” (that is, to bring Messiah up from the dead).
8But what does it say? “The word is near you, in your mouth and in your heart” — that is, the word of faith that we proclaim.
