Song of Songs 4:10-11

Sweeter than Wine

A Locked Garden and Living Water · Song of Songs 4

Story guide: The beloved praises love, fragrance, and the sweetness of the woman's lips through wine, spices, honey, and milk. Notice those objects gathered beside her garments. They engage taste and scent together, helping you feel the abundance of his praise rather than treating the comparisons as literal ingredients of her body.

10How beautiful your love is, my sister, my bride! How much better your love is than wine, and the fragrance of your oils than all spices!

11Honey from the comb drips from your lips, bride; honey and milk are under your tongue, and the fragrance of your garments is like the fragrance of Lebanon.
