Pillars and Cedars

The Door and the Missing Beloved · Song of Songs 5

Story guide: The woman compares the beloved's legs with stone pillars and his whole appearance with Lebanon's cedars. Notice the upright columns and towering trees. They give visual form to steadiness and impressive stature, continuing her praise through architecture and landscape rather than locating him in a new scene.
