A Wakeful Heart

The Door and the Missing Beloved · Song of Songs 5

Story guide: The woman recounts being asleep while her heart was awake, then quotes her beloved asking her to open the door. Notice the contrast between her bed and his position outside. The dew and darkness intensify the appeal, while the divided picture helps you distinguish her narration from his quoted voice.
