Open this scene in the reader →1And I, when I came to you, brothers, did not come with lofty speech or wisdom, proclaiming to you the testimony of God.
2For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ—and him crucified.
3And I was with you in weakness, in fear, and in great trembling,
4And my speech and my proclamation were not with persuasive wisdom, but with a demonstration of the Spirit and of power,
5so that your faith might not be in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.
About this artwork
Paul comes without lofty speech, knowing Messiah crucified. His weakness and trembling keep faith from resting in persuasive human wisdom, while changed lives embody the Spirit’s power.
