Graphic Bible · Scene 5 of 16

Exodus 12:14-20. A lasting memorial. Editorial instruction illustration for the Feast of Unleavened Bread. Close medium view inside a humble ancient Hebrew kitchen. An unnamed woman in plain belted undyed linen and muted brown headcloth gathers a small piece of old fermented dough from a shallow kneading bowl into a separate clay container for removal. A clean reed tray of thin flat unleavened breads rests prominently on the table beside the now cleared working surface. Focus on her two natural hands and attentive face, clay storage jars and mudbrick wall behind. No modern packaged yeast, labels, calendars, later religious objects or text. Ordinary soft daylight, tactile hand-inked gouache, warm restrained palette. Show household preparation, no wasteful heap of bread or violent expulsion of people. Bronze Age Exodus setting, not first-century staging. One 16:9 single scene. No text or lettering.
Artwork is an interpretation. Scripture is quoted from the People's Open Bible.

14And this day shall be for you as a memorial, and you shall celebrate it as a feast to Yahweh; throughout your generations, you shall celebrate it as a permanent statute.

15For seven days you shall eat unleavened bread. But on the first day you shall remove leaven from your houses, for whoever eats anything leavened, that person shall be cut off from Israel, from the first day to the seventh day.

16On the first day there shall be a holy assembly for you, and on the seventh day a holy assembly. No work shall be done on them, except what every person must eat—that alone may be prepared for you.

17And you shall keep the Feast of Unleavened Bread, because on this very day I brought your hosts out from the land of Egypt. And you shall keep this day throughout your generations as a permanent statute.

18In the first month, on the fourteenth day of the month at evening, you shall eat unleavened bread, until the twenty-first day of the month at evening.

19For seven days no leaven is to be found in your houses, for whoever eats anything leavened, that person shall be cut off from the congregation of Israel, whether a sojourner or a native of the land.

20You shall not eat anything leavened; in all your dwellings you shall eat unleavened bread.
