And he was saying to them, “Truly I say to you, there are some standing here who will certainly not taste death until they see the kingdom of God having come in power.”

And after six days, Jesus takes Peter and James and John, and brings them up onto a high mountain by themselves. And he was transfigured before them,

And his clothes became gleaming, very white, such as no launderer on earth is able to whiten.

And Elijah appeared to them with Moses, and they were talking with Jesus.

And Peter answered and said to Jesus, “Rabbi, it is good for us to be here, and let us make three shelters: one for you, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”

For he did not know what he should answer, for they were terrified.

And a cloud came, overshadowing them, and a voice came out of the cloud: “This is my beloved Son; listen to him.”

And suddenly, looking around, they no longer saw anyone except Jesus alone with them.

And as they were coming down from the mountain, he ordered them to tell no one what they had seen, except when the Son of Man had risen from among the dead.

And they kept the matter to themselves, discussing what it meant to rise from the dead.

And they were asking him, saying, “Why do the scribes say that Elijah must come first?”

He said to them, “Elijah indeed, having come first, restores all things. And how is it written about the Son of Man that he should suffer many things and be treated with contempt?”

But I tell you that Elijah also has come, and they did to him whatever they wanted, just as it is written about him.
