Columns of Fragrance

The Night Search and the Royal Procession · Song of Songs 3

Story guide: A question interrupts the private search with a distant, fragrant procession rising from the wilderness. Notice how the pale columns draw your eye toward what is approaching. The verse creates wonder before the next verse names Solomon's couch; this is a change of poetic scene, not proof of the lovers' next historical event.
