Solomon's Couch

The Night Search and the Royal Procession · Song of Songs 3

Story guide: The poem now explicitly names Solomon's couch and the warriors surrounding it. Notice the carrying litter at the center of the guards. Their formation emphasizes royal protection and splendor. This separate tableau introduces Solomon by name without establishing that the male beloved of the earlier verses is the king.
