Graphic Bible · Scene 3 of 5

Exodus 7:14-20. The Nile is struck. Morning on the Nile bank. Aaron in indigo is the focal actor, bending slightly and bringing his plain wooden staff down to strike the river water. Moses in crimson with long white hair stands beside him holding his separate gnarled staff. Pharaoh in blue/gold nemes and white linen stands farther along the bank with two small plainly dressed Egyptian attendants, witnessing the sign. Match each of the three character references exactly. At the point of the strike, small natural ripples and splashes; all visible Nile water turns an unmistakable deep blood-red, not brown mud. Wide river, reed beds, low cultivated banks, distant palms and small boats. No glowing magic beam, giant wave, burning bush, wounds or gore. Clearly separate staffs and hands, each staff held by its own man. One decisive action in a wide coherent 16:9 scene. Bronze Age Exodus setting, not first-century staging. One 16:9 single scene. No text or lettering.

14Then Yahweh said to Moses, “Pharaoh’s heart is heavy; he refuses to let the people go.”

15Go to Pharaoh in the morning. Look, he is going out to the water, and you shall stand to meet him on the bank of the Nile, and you shall take in your hand the staff that was turned into a serpent.

16And you shall say to him, ‘Yahweh, the God of the Hebrews, has sent me to you, saying: Let my people go, so that they may serve me in the wilderness. But behold, until now you have not listened.’

17Thus says Yahweh: By this you will know that I am Yahweh: behold, I am striking the water that is in the Nile with the staff that is in my hand, and it will be turned to blood.

18And the fish that are in the Nile will die, and the Nile will stink, and the Egyptians will be unable to drink water from the Nile.

19Then Yahweh said to Moses, “Say to Aaron, ‘Take your staff and stretch out your hand over the waters of Egypt—over their rivers, over their Nile canals, over their ponds, and over every collection of their waters—that they may become blood. And there will be blood throughout all the land of Egypt, even in wooden and stone vessels.’”

20So Moses and Aaron did so, just as Yahweh had commanded. And he raised the staff and struck the water that was in the Nile before Pharaoh's eyes and before the eyes of his servants, and all the water that was in the Nile was turned to blood.
